PLANNING UNIT

ALMD PLANNING UNIT
The Agricultural Land Management Division currently has a Planning Unit which is further sub-divided into 2 Regional Units:
1.
The Western Regional Unit - Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.
2.
The Eastern Regional Unit - Hope Gardens, St. Andrew.
Regional Units
The Western Regional Planning Unit which is located in Montego Bay serves the parishes of: St. James, Westmoreland, Hanover & Trelawny.

The Eastern Regional Planning Unit which is located in Hope Gardens, serves the parishes of: Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Thomas, Portland, St. Mary, St. Ann, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and & St. Elizabeth.

Much of the work of the Planning Units involves physical resource inventory surveys and studies of specific agricultural land utilization and certification of mined-out lands.


Other functions of the Planning Unit include:

Assisting government and other agencies involved in planning process by providing advisory services on agricultural land use and change of use.
O
Development, implementation and monotoring of technical projects and programmes.
O
Coordination and management of regional programmes & activities.
O
Assisting with post disaster agricultural rehabilitation programme.
O
Examination of agricultural land management requests.
O
Research on agricultural land management issues.
O
Conduct Rural Land Evaluation Assessments.
O
Conduct site specific Land Capability Studies.
O
Conduct research on agricultural land use trends.
O
Produce soil survey reports.
